The feline health is an extremely well studied topic in medical veterinary medicine nowadays. It is simply a fact that cats have a much longer life span than dogs and a much lower incident of disease. But, it must also be remembered that just like humans, cats can get sick too. And, just like dogs, cats can also get to a point of death if they are not treated efficiently. The fact is that cats are affected by illness and disease differently than dogs. This has been the result of years of observations, research and studies.
The primary duty of the cat owner is to ensure that his cat remains happy, healthy and safe and this can be achieved by providing her with everything she needs, including a clean, fresh water and a nutritious diet. A cat will die a premature death if she remains sick, her immune system is compromised and she is unable to fight infection or disease. If you have a sick cat then your duty is not to rush her to the veterinarian but to try and bring her back to health as soon as possible by keeping her active, fresh and well fed.
In order for your cat to be able to stay fit you must make sure that there is enough, fresh water constantly available for her. A lot of cat owners think that their cats will drink from a bowl, but this is not how they will survive in the wild. For the felines to survive and keep fit, you must provide them with fresh water and food every day and it is even better if you can supply them with a litter box in which to do their business.
Another important duty of the cat owner is to make sure that her cat does not get infected with Feline Distemper and Canine Distemper. These are diseases that are highly contagious and can cause serious damage to a cat’s immune system. When cats get infected with these, they will lose the ability to fight infection and disease. Even the best antibiotics are of no use against these infections and your cat could die if infected. If your cat becomes sick then you must consult a veterinarian and give your cat the appropriate treatment.
The other very important duty of the cat owner is to ensure that their cats do not have urinary tract infections. Infections of the cat urinary tract can cause extreme discomfort and pain and even lead to death if left untreated. This is why the cat owner should look after their pets very closely and ensure that they do not go outdoors unsupervised. The veterinarian will prescribe an antibiotic for your pet and if necessary send them to the hospital.
Cats are like small human beings and just like humans need good hygienic habits to keep them healthy and infection free. This does not mean that your cats are unclean, you just need to ensure that you keep their litter box clean and dry at all times. The cat owner has to disinfect the litter box properly before placing any cat litter inside it. You will find many disinfectants in the pet stores but you can also use household bleach to disinfect it. Pets need cleanliness and hygiene, so it is important that you provide them with the best care and keep them healthy.
